More Than 30 Years Inside the Business of Travel

For me, aviation and tourism have never been simply about aircraft, destinations or tickets.

They are about people, business, relationships and decisions — and about the remarkably complex system behind something that appears very simple to the passenger: getting from one place to another.

I have spent more than 30 years working in this industry, experiencing it from several very different perspectives: travel agency operations, airline representation, GSA management, airline leadership, entrepreneurship and, more recently, university teaching.

That journey has given me the opportunity to understand not only how the travel business works — but also why it works the way it does.

From the Travel Agency Desk to Airline Management

My professional journey in the travel industry began at VISTA Travel in 1994, where I joined as an air ticket agent.

Over the following twelve years, I progressed through several management positions, becoming Head of the Air Ticket Division and later Operations Director. During this period, I also served as Chief Operations Officer of TQ3 Travel Solutions Hungary.

Those years gave me an invaluable perspective on aviation from the travel agency, corporate customer and, most importantly, passenger side of the business.

In 2006, I moved to the other side of the industry when I became General Manager of AVIAREPS Hungary.

My responsibilities extended beyond Hungary to Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria, and I represented a portfolio of international airlines and tourism companies.

Sales, marketing, business development and market representation were no longer concepts from a business textbook. They were everyday challenges: how do you successfully represent an airline in a local market? How do you build distribution? How do you develop relationships with the travel trade? And ultimately, how do you turn a product, route or destination into commercial success?

Eleven Years Leading an Airline in Hungary

In 2012, I became General Manager of EL AL Israel Airlines in Hungary, a position I held until 2023.

I was responsible for the airline's sales, marketing and operational activities in the Hungarian market, including commercial strategy, market representation, travel-trade relations and day-to-day airline operations.

Those eleven years provided an extraordinary insight into how an airline really works.

From the outside, an airline may appear to be mainly about aircraft, schedules and fares.

From the inside, it is a sophisticated combination of sales, marketing, distribution, operations, customer service, security, partnerships and — above all — people.

And then there are the moments when things do not go according to plan.

A delayed or cancelled flight may appear to the passenger as a single problem. Behind the scenes, however, it can involve aircraft rotations, crews, airports, ground handling, passenger connections, operational restrictions and hundreds of individual decisions.

It is often in these situations that you learn the most about how the airline business really works.

Turning Experience into Knowledge

In recent years, I have also broadened my experience beyond aviation, managing activities in real estate development, food retail, hospitality and e-commerce.

In 2026, another chapter began when I started teaching university-level lectures and seminars in tourism and aviation to international students.

Teaching has given me a new way to use more than three decades of industry experience.

I am particularly interested in connecting theory with reality.

What does an airline sales strategy actually look like in practice?

Why does an airline launch a new route — and why might it withdraw from another one?

How do you sell a destination to an airline?

What really happens behind the scenes when a flight is cancelled?

Where do tourism, aviation, sales, marketing and operations meet?

These are the questions I enjoy exploring — in the classroom, in professional discussions and here on this website.

Proven Representation Experience

My representation and consulting services are built on more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the aviation and tourism industries – including senior management, market representation, sales development and commercial leadership.

I served for 11 years as General Manager / Country Director of EL AL Israel Airlines in Hungary, with responsibility for the airline's commercial activities, sales, marketing, airport operations and market presence.

As Country Manager / General Manager of AVIAREPS, I was responsible for the company's activities across Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria, managing airline, hotel and tourism representation and developing business across the Central and South-Eastern European markets.

Throughout my career, I have been directly involved in representing and developing international aviation, hospitality and tourism brands, including:

Condor Airlines • EVA Air • Air Seychelles • Air Namibia • Air Madagascar • Jet Airways • Asiana Airlines • Wyndham Hotel Group • DERAG Hotels

This experience has given me a practical understanding of what international travel brands need from a local or regional representative: market knowledge, industry relationships, sales development, visibility, reliable local intelligence and – above all – someone who represents the brand as if it were their own.

Today, I bring this experience to airlines, destinations, hotels and tourism organisations seeking flexible, senior-level representation and consulting support in Hungary and the wider Central European market.

From market entry to market presence

Depending on the client's needs, cooperation can range from a specific project or market assessment to ongoing commercial representation, including:

Market Representation • Business Development • Airline & Tourism Sales • Trade Relations • Corporate Sales • Market Intelligence • Market Entry Support • Partnership Development • B2B Representation • Sales Calls & Trade Visits • Marketing Support • Local Networking • Strategic Consulting

The objective is simple: to provide international aviation and tourism companies with experienced local representation without necessarily requiring the infrastructure of a traditional full-service GSA or local office.

Senior experience. Local presence. International perspective.
